MEXE, incorporated in 2021, was inspired by the great work done by the engineers and scientists of the former Ministry of Supply’s (and later War Office’s) Military Engineering Experimental Establishment.
MEXE was formed in 1946 on the amalgamation of the Experimental Bridging Establishment (formed at Christchurch in 1919 as the Experimental Bridging Company, Royal Engineers and redesignated in 1925), the Experimental Demolition Establishment and the Experimental Tunnelling Establishment.
